This Tibetan saddle ring is fine silver and has 4 peaces of small red natural coral on it. It has little rough touch as its handmade , its has a very looks boho style and gypsy. This is one of my collection from Bhutan during my one of Visits there, I travel to Himalayan regions once a year for pilgrimage and the same time collects handicrafts, jewelry ( Vintage, tribal, and authentic) from those regions.
History of Tibetan Saddle Ring.
This saddle shape is traditional jewelry mostly worn By both male and female from Both Nomadic or Farmers and semi nomadic family of those regions. ( Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan Mongol and other regions of Himalayan, ( Ladakh, Sikkim Gangtok, Tawang etc..) Trade routes through Nepal brought skilled artisans from Nepal and India , and the silk road brought foreign materials (such as coral) into Tibet. Nomadic Tibetan horsemen connected these trade routes into a vast Himalayan network that brought Buddhism to East Asia. This saddle ring design represents the saddle on which they rode. And also it shows the relationship between the Nomads and Farmers as back in those days its butter system.. and horse have played very important role..
All traditional designs have important symbolic value. This is the history of Tibet in a ring.
